Our aim
Laying the foundations for language learning
Our aim is to develop the building blocks that children need to learn a new language.
We do this by giving the children the chance to become familiar with the sounds of the language. As the focus is on speaking and listening, we give them the chance to begin to recognise new words and then start to produce them themselves. It’s a similar process to how they learn their first language.
Our approach
Engaging learning through play and interaction
Speak Like A Native’s nursery sessions are all about learning by doing. Our approach combines songs and rhymes, imaginative play and movement, and stories to help young children start speaking a second language spontaneously.
Much like our primary school courses, language immersion is a key component of our nursery sessions, and we also incorporate Makaton to ensure that all children can access the learning.
When it comes to meeting government targets for early years’ learning and development, the sessions cover most strands of the EYFS National Curriculum (England) and the New Draft Curriculums for both Wales and Scotland.
